According to a report by , Vieira is one of the names Inter are considering if they fail to acquire the services of Fabregas, as Como are desperate to keep him at the helm. Vieira is contracted at Genoa till 2026, and a sum of €500k needs to be paid by the first week of July to relieve him of his duties if he is to take the job. The Nerazzurri are said to be in contact with the 48-year-old.

With Inzaghi stepping down after the humiliating Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain to join Al-Hilal, Inter are currently exploring options to replace him. Fabregas is being considered a likely candidate after he guided Como to a 10th-place finish in their first season back in Serie A after 21 years. However, with Vieira having played for the club before as well as his recent feats at Genoa and Strasbourg, the Frenchman, too, is on their radar.
